The Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce would like to extend an invitation to two events taking place at the 51st General Clinton Canoe Regatta on Saturday, May 25, 2013. The 2nd annual canoe parade will be celebrating the life of Pam LeFever Pam was so passionate about the regatta, She has served as chairman and on committees for many years . Pam enjoyed the first parade so much last year, we decided to name the float in her honor We invite you all to participate in Pam Lefever memorial parade, a float from Sidney to Bainbridge. We had a great turn out last year and hope for many more paddlers this year. This is not a race and open to everyone The parade will line up at the old Whitaker’s parking lot on Main St. in Sidney at 12 PM with a launch of 1 PM.

The New York State Department of Transportation provides this reminder:
People traveling on Interstate 81 and New York State Route 17 through the City of Binghamton in Broome County will encounter major road construction at the interchange of these two highways. Construction will include permanent lane closures and speed reductions through the area during the construction season. Be alert for construction activities at Exit 72 on New York State Route 17 and between Exit 3 and Exit 5 on Interstate 81. Travelers may want to consider alternate routes. For up-to-date travel information, call 511 or visit www.511NY.org

Imagine paddling a canoe 70 miles in one day, challenging the elements and
testing your endurance levels against the unpredictable Susquehanna River in
upstate New York. You have just entered the General Clinton Canoe Regatta!

What Happens During the Weekend
The General Clinton Canoe Regatta Weekend
attracts
more than 1,500 paddlers to 50 races in one or two-person classes on the
Susquehanna River. The Regatta culminates Memorial Day with a 70-mile endurance
race from Cooperstown to Bainbridge, the worlds longest single-day flat water
marathon canoe race, part of the North American Triple Crown of Canoeing.
Past entrants included world-class athletes like US Olympic Gold Medalist Greg
Barton, 28-time winner Canadian Serge Corbin, and racers from all over the
United States, all over Canada, and from many countries, competing for over
$25,000 in cash and prizes.
What Awaits You After The Race
We have plenty of entertainment awaiting Young and Old. There are rides, food
stands, live bands and a variety of shows for you to enjoy. Fireworks Display
Saturday and Sunday night.
